Romance Novels Planned for 2012

What better way to usher in the end of the world than cuddling up with some romance novels, say we — here are a few that the latest author of the genre, Aminka Ozmun, has in mind for 2012:

  • Playaz  Based on a plot outlined just about in full by J.A. Konrath in his free newbies’ writing guide, this debut novel concerns a would-be videogaming champ still in high school whose offline world is coming apart just as her online efforts are finally coming together!
  • Kickin’ It  Jovita is a black belt in karate unlike any girl Kenny has ever met, but when he applies Akido principles to their sometimes unfriendly rivalry, she is thrown off her groove and must devise new tactics in this battle between sexes and races!
  • Spread the Love  One man’s sperm is another woman’s pride and joy, so to speak, in this risqué story that tries to keep its tongue firmly in-cheek and in-check while detailing the adventures of an Asian donor and the receptionist who stalks him!
  • Engrish Teacher  In this tale of love at first sound, LaToya Belvitt is a recently laid-off professor of African-American Literature who decides on a change of scenery and winds up teaching ESL in South Korea, meeting with both culture shock and cultural attractions….
  • Back Door to Ubuhlobo  Bisa is a young Xhosa woman who works as a maid while Tian is the nightwatchman who works the construction site he guards during the day.  They are both strangers in Angola, and none more so than her!
  • Summer of My Chinese Laborer  A single mother finds love again in the bayous of The Pelican State when an itinerant worker with exotic customs appears at the local parish offices seeking help.

In addition, Ms. Ozmun will also make two web fiction serials available on her site, A Confederate Flag for the Changs and A White, a Black Girl, and a Chinese Guy…, both of which will be entirely FREE to read online, with new material posted regularly every other week.  The former work will concern a Chinese family running a restaurant in the south and the curious former NAACP chapter head who presents them the Stars and Bars, while the latter shall be an account of the misadventures of an interracial couple seeking to become an all-inclusive triple!

All of these titles will be debut efforts for the first-time novelist, an ambitious schedule that is outmatched only by her determination to help put black women-Asian men romances on the cultural map of America and even the rest of the world!
